Bing Rummy
Bing Rummy is a modification of kaluki (a rummy-based gambling card game) originated in the mining towns of Alaska. 2 to 8 players can play this game, however, works best with 3 to 6 players.
The deck contains of two standard 52-card decks (no jokers) with deuces wild. The game begins with each player betting in for the accepted amount (customarily 25 cents). Once the cards are shuffled, the player on the dealer’s right “cuts for a deuce.”
Each player is dealt 14 cards. The balance cards are placed in a draw pile and the top card is turned over to begin the discard pile. Play then starts with the player on the dealer’s left. The player has to draw a card from the pile or from the discard pile and discard one card from his hand or the one taken from the pile or meld.
A meld contains three or more cards in the same rank (e.g. 8s 8h 8s) or a run of three or more cards in the same suit (e.g. 5d 6d 7d). Deuces are wild. The first time an individual player melds, he has to play minimum three sets (e.g. Kd Kh Kc; 8c 9c 10c; 3h 3s 3h 3s). During his first meld or anytime later, a player may play cards on any other meld on the table. When a player has melded all 14 cards, the players count up the points in his hand with each card valued as its rank (face cards are 10 points).
The player is a winner, who goes out causing every other player to have 75 or more points. The winner gets all of the money deposited into the pot.
