International rummy
International rummy can be played with minimum of 4 and maximum of any number of players. When played with more number, it would be more enjoyable and also more frustrating. Decks used should be in the ratio of 1:2 with the number of players.
Each player has definite aims that must be met. Building sets and runs is the main objective of the game. 4 or more cards of the same suit in ascending sequence, for example an 8-9-10-Jack combination, is a run. You can draw the opponent’s discard at any time, if preceding player does not wish to do so, or you can pick up a card from the deck. You must discard which is not useful in your hand.
Wild cards are Jokers and deuces (2’s). They can substitute any missing card in a set or run, if too many wild cards are not available. Wild cards can be used such as 1 card in 3, 2 cards in 5, and 3 cards in 7. Basically, this equates to less than half of the cards in a set or run.
When it is used in a run, it may be substituted at any time by the original, with the wild card changing to a fresh position in the run. Wild card usage rules must also be followed when adding cards to existing spreads previously on the table.
Remaining cards in each player’s hand are added up after anyone builds rummy. The winner is the one who has the lowest score after a full set of hands.
