Progressive rummy
Progressive Rummy is a challenging game and it adds a fascinating thrill on the classic game. If you’ve learned any Rummy game, it’s effortless to changeover to another–including Progressive Rummy.
Two decks along with 3 jokers (105 cards) are required for 3-4 players. Likewise, three decks with 2 jokers (158 cards) are for 5-6 players. Progressive rummy can be played by maximum 8 players, however 4 is the best option.
Deal the right number of cards as follows:
- Deal no.1 - 6 cards to each,
- Deal no.2 - 7 cards to each,
- Deal no.3 - 8 cards to each etc.,
- ………………………..
- ………………………..until
- Deal no.7 – 12 cards to each player. This is the last hand of the game.
The contracts for each player must be known and gather them exactly when melding. Every deal has a different set and sequence.
They are as follows:
- Deal no.1- 2 sets,
- Deal no.2- 1 set and 1 sequence,
- Deal no.3- 2 sequences,
- Deal no.4- 3 sets,
- Deal no.5- 2 sets and 1 sequence,
- Deal no.6- 1 set and 2 sequences and
- Deal no.7- 3 sequences.
Draw a card from the discard pile or the stock pile. You have to draw a card and either meld or lay out the cards in your hand when it is your turn. After you are done, the turn moves to your left. If you want to win, make yourself the first person to meld, lay out or discard everything in your hand. Calculate each player’s points. The player who has the lowest score is the winner in Progressive Rummy.
