Rummy Omar

The game is played with 2 players in which points are scored for cards melded, and lost for unmelded cards remaining in a player’s hand when someone goes out. The game is won by the first player to reach a cumulative score of 501 or more over a series of hands.

One standard deck of 52 cards is used.

The Cards have point values as follows:

The first dealer is chosen by the one who has the biggest value of the card, starts the game. Each player is dealt a hand of 8 cards. The first player will place a card face up on the table to start the discard pile, and the remainder of the card is placed face down beside it to form the stock.

The aim of the game is to dispose of all the cards in your hand. There are 3 ways to get rid of the cards, melding, laying off, and discarding. Melding is taking a combination of cards namely run (or sequence) and set (or group) and placing it face-up in front of you.

Laying off is adding a card or cards from your hand to a meld already on the table. Discarding is playing a card from your hand on top of the discard pile. You get rid of one card this way at the end of each turn. The player with the highest score wins.
