Traditional rummy

Traditional Rummy is structured on the basics shared with all the Rummy series. The winner is the first player to lay-off all the cards in his hand immediately - this condition is called Going Rummy. Alternate way to win the game is to be the first player to lay-off all the cards in his hand step by step - this is called Going Out. In this Rummy type, no restrictions are there about allowing one to lay down melds or adding matching cards to existing melds.

The aim of Rummy is to dispose of all the cards in your hand prior to your opponents do by arranging as many as possible of the cards in your hand into sets or runs of cards.

This game is played with two regular 52 card decks. Each player is dealt 10 cards. The left over cards are placed face down on the table, forming the stock pile and one card is placed adjacent to the stock to form the discard pile (face up).

Commencing the game, a player must draw a card either from the stock pile or from the discard pile and add it to his hand. In case a player has formed any melds (a matched set or a run), he can also lay them down on the table face up. If the player does not wish to lay down a meld, he discards one card to the discard pile.
